I have successfully treated people between the ages of 7 and 70 for over 30 years,. My experience has been in a variety of mental health settings, including community mental health centers and several private practices. I was licensed as a psychologist in Ohio in 1988. While I specialize in treating Obsessive Compulsive Disorder, I have also treated a variety of other conditions that often are seen in people with OCD, including depression, other anxiety disorders, ADHD, alcohol/substance abuse, Body-Focused Repetitive Behaviors, and relationship issues. I don't work with eating disorders or compulsive gambling.
In 2017, I did a two hour presentation on intrusive thoughts and often missed forms of OCD with Cleveland Clinic EAP counselors.
Due to lack of trained OCD therapists, especially in rural areas, I'm offering HIPPA compliant video conferencing services for those living in Ohio. If interested in telemental health, online services, please email me with your insurance and availability to get the ball rolling.
I attend the International Obsessive Compulsive Disorder's Behavior Therapy Training Institute (BTTI) in 2011. I also attended the newly formed BTTI for treating Youth in 2014. Part of both trainings was a follow-up of three phone consultations with two leading OCD experts, one of whom I still seek periodic consultation. I've also attended two of the National OCD Conferences to hear cutting edge information. Over several decades, I've also attended live workshops, webinars, and done much professional reading. I've also received much additional training in Anxiety Disorders, CBT, and Brief Therapy through continuing education, as well as consultation and ongoing professional reading.
Since attending my first BTTI, I've established this website, largely in an effort to provide selected information about OCD, new resources, and most importantly to provide the message that RECOVERY IS POSSIBLE! I've also created and maintained a professional Facebook page, OCD Cleveland, with the same purposes.
I've also received live and online training in providing therapy over the internet in an ethical, confidential manner. This is referred to as telemental health, video conferencing, online therapy, and other names.
My PhD in Counseling Psychology is from Indiana State University (1986); my MA in Clinical Psychology is from Western Kentucky University (1977); and my BA in Psychology is from the University of Toledo (1975). I did my doctoral internship at the Louis Stokes VA Medical Center (1984-85) in Cleveland and Brecksville, Ohio.
